1. SCHEDULES: Entries must be in their assigned positions, in the display area, by no later than 18h00 on Friday 30 August 2019. Non-placement by that time will result in disqualification. NO EXCEPTIONS.

2. All paddocks will be cleared of non-participating entities (General Public) during the judging process. Only the judges and car owner / representative will be allowed in the paddock.

3. Competitors will have access to their vehicles, for final preparations, from 07h00 on Saturday 31 August

4. CLEANING: Last-minute preparation will be allowed on the display site until 09h00 when judging begins. Once judging begins (on any car), only a light dusting cloth will be permitted. ABSOLUTELY NO dusting or cleaning will be permitted while the particular car is being judged.

5. ASSEMBLIES: Each car will be displayed as an assembled unit. Parts such as convertible tops, doors, deck lids, must be closed. Bumpers, hubcaps, etc., must be attached to the car in their normal positions, and not alongside the car. Upon request of one of the Judges ONLY, the car can then be displayed (opened). Competitors will be penalised if the above items are not as required. Cars may not be jacked or elevated in any manner unless specifically requested by one of the judges ONLY.

6. Each entered vehicle will be allocated a number. This number must be displayed on the top right side of the windscreen. The same number will appear on all documentation pertaining to that vehicle; entry form, score sheet etc.

7. PROMOTIONAL ITEMS: “FOR SALE” signs, previous trophies, photographs and/or news clippings will not be permitted in the display area.

8. EXHIBITOR/OWNER: Must be present during judging.

1. Concours judging shall be based on the quality of presentation, originality and condition of the car.

1. Three (3) to five (5) judges shall make up each team (The number of judges per team shall be determined prior to the event).

2. Judging will be based on the quality of workmanship, presentation and originality.

3. Each judge shall look over each specific category (paint, chrome, interior, etc.) of the car, and consider its good points. Only one score is put on each scoring sheet, for each category, and that score is final.
The judging will produce one “Overall Winner”, “2nd Place”, “3rd Place”, etc.; as well as high scoring cars for each category.

4. ”Best of Show” winner will be chosen by:

  • A: Highest total point score over all class winners.
  • B: WOW Factor.
  • C: Interaction with Judges.
  • D: Presentation of the displayed cars immediate area.

5. The highest scoring cars from each category will be re-judged by the entire judging panel on Sunday morning, to determine the 1st, 2nd and 3rd “Best of Show” winners.

6. Judges are encouraged to make notes on their score sheets during initial judging for future reference as to “Best of Show” and “Best Car” in all categories. This information may be used, in the event of a tie, as part of the decision making process.

7. Completed judging sheets are the property of Concours South Africa and will NOT be distributed to Entrants on the day of or after the event.

8. In ALL instances, the judge’s decision is final.

Each car will be inspected by a team of qualified judges, approved by the Concours South Africa Committee. Judges, including the Head Judge, will have had the experience commensurate with that of a judge and/or contestant.

The same team will judge all cars in the same category. The team will inspect all cars in the same class continuously; that is each car will be judged in its entirety before inspection of other classes begins in the category. Lids, caps, and covers may be opened or removed upon request of the Head Judge, only in the course of inspection, provided no tools are required. Each judge will judge the entire car.

At the discretion of the Senior Judge any car or part thereof, may be re-inspected and re-judged.

Any interface should be directed to the Senior Judge of the judging team.

Any interface must be made prior to or after judging has taken place and NOT during the judging process.

Any interface, appeal or query must be made to the head judge no later than one (1) Hour after the judging process has concluded.

Each car will start with Two Hundred (200) points. Penalties will be deducted as per fault and will rate between ½ and 2 points, with a maximum of 10 points for each item.

Bonus points may be awarded (up to a maximum of 7) at the discretion of the judges.

In the event of a tie, the cars involved will be re-judged by two (2) judges, the Head Judge and one other and any information, as per item 6 in Judging Rules, may be used. Elegance and presentation may also be taken into account.
